Welcome to Chesapeake
Chesapeake gives you room to breathe. Bigger lots, newer construction and plenty of green space, with Norfolk and Virginia Beach still within reach. It’s a favorite for buyers who want a little more house and a little more quiet.
Great Bridge
A well-established area with parks, shopping and the Intracoastal Waterway nearby.
Greenbrier
A central hub for shopping, dining and office parks, ringed by neighborhoods.
Western Branch
Popular neighborhoods on the city’s western side toward Portsmouth and Suffolk.
Hickory
A more rural feel with larger lots in the southern part of the city.
Deep Creek
Neighborhoods near the Dismal Swamp Canal and the Great Dismal Swamp.
Grassfield
Newer communities in the southern part of the city.
Every neighborhood has its own feel; I’m happy to help you compare them in person.
Getting around
Chesapeake sits at the crossroads of I-64, I-464 and Route 168, so commuting to Norfolk, Virginia Beach or Portsmouth is very doable. Service members often consider Chesapeake for the space, with Naval Station Norfolk, Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Coast Guard Base Portsmouth all within driving distance.
Commute times vary a lot with traffic, tunnels and time of day. I’m always glad to drive the route with you.
A note on schools
Chesapeake is served by Chesapeake Public Schools. School assignments are set by address and can change, so please verify zoning for any specific home directly with the school division before you buy.
